WVCHWY (pronounced “which way”) is a proud Kalkadungu and Bidjara (from Mt. Isa and Carnarvon Gorge) producer, DJ, and artist. World music at its core, WVCHWY’s acid-laced techno soundscapes enfold ancient sounds, vocals and the bottomline thrum of the didge – yidaki or yidiki. Grounded by story their sound breaks away from traditional structures, creating a journey into infectious rhythms, both lively and heavy, and asking us along for the ride!
Rising producer and DJ WVCHWY has already supported artists like Jennifer Loveless, RONA, as well as performing at SXSW Sydney and YIRRAMOI Festival. His album makings of me came out in November under the Blak Music label, available on all streaming platforms.
About the track tjalunkut, RONA wrote on Amrap’s Music is Bloody Great, “This is a powerful force of a song. The Kookaburras at the start is such a beautiful detail that grounds this song in place and in country, and the Yidiki (didgeridoo) that pulsates throughout. I love the way that this song is produced. It’s got so much energy and is really showing their production finesse.”
