SANE – Rachel Green
The Big Brekky Show sat down with Rachel Green, CEO with SANE, while she was visiting Mparntwe. SANE is the leading national mental health organisation for people with complex mental health issues in Australia and for the families and friends that support them. She was keen to share details of SANE's work into the development of online wellbeing spaces for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities that contribute to Closing the Gap objectives and reforms. A peer-based, moderated digital community called Yarning space - SANE Forums, free and accessible to anyone in Australia identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, is their first service offering being piloted across the country.SANE also delivers free support through their guided recovery program for people 18 and over in a 15-week program with a counsellor or peer support worker to develop a recovery plan and work towards their goals with the added benefit of connecting to their online groups.The Australian Council for Connected Care met in Alice Springs and Rachel spoke about how they participated in this group, which comprises health and social service leaders working on the National Healthcare Interoperability Plan – a blueprint for connecting health and social services to enable safe sharing of individuals information between different organisations and systems.
