Clara Crocodile from Sally Balfour is our Feature Album this week- and it features a huge amount of local artists!
This is an album for children that no one would be shy to sing along to
“Clara Crocodile is a genre-twisting soundtrack for a heroine’s epic road journey from the Top End to the desert heart of Australia. The album’s range is ambitious and innovative, fusing reggae with electro-pop, folk, country, punk, and choir. The album brings together a who’s who of Alice Springs music royalty, and throws the lot into an eclectic and unique mix to create sounds that could only ever come out of a place like Alice Springs.
Balfour’s collaborators include bush balladeer Ted Egan AO, electro-folk songstress and cellist Xavia , Aboriginal singer/songwriter Warren H Williams and daughter Genise Williams, electro-pop artist/producer Dave Crowe (Resin Moon ), Katie Harder , Ash McDonnell, Darcy Davis , and the up-and-coming/watch-this-space prodigy Maggie Church-Kopp.”
Sally is currently based in #tennantcreek though was just in #alicesprings for a residency at Red Hot Arts Central Australia developing puppets for a performance tour that will perhaps see Clara head back along the Highway for a visit- have a listen to Clara and be sure to check your pool.. watch out for this croc!
