Local legend Katie Harder is featured this week with her album Slow Walking, to be released 13 June 2025 via Sing Hum Records. Born from a deeply personal period of songwriting, reflection, and renewal, Slow Walking is an intimate collection of songs that capture life’s fragility, beauty, and resilience with honesty and heart.
Recorded on Arrernte Country in Mparntwe/Alice Springs, Slow Walking has already sparked interest across the Australian community radio network with the release of three standout singles — Pot Plant, Discover Me, and Oceans Roar — each receiving strong airplay and praise for their melodic depth and emotional clarity.
“This album was such a joy to create,” says Harder. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tap into my God-given gifts – to play almost every instrument, explore tone and story, and invite musicians I deeply admire to shape the sound alongside me. These songs were written during a complicated, dry season in my life – and dipping back into them now, with perspective and hope, feels like an offering of healing and honesty.”
Slow Walking is a record of contrasts – from the tender joy of parenting to the ache of grief, from playful moments in the garden to quiet spiritual reflection. Written during several rounds of the digital iHeartSongwriting group, the album pulses with nature metaphors, grounding imagery, and Katie’s signature warmth. It is raw where it needs to be, polished where it matters, and always real.
