Rosie Ballard is a singer-songwriter based in Mparntwe/Alice Springs in Central Australia, creating music with a contemporary folk sound.
An active part of the local music community, Rosie plays in the trio Red Bird alongside Tiff Lohs and Chris Bird. Chris features throughout the tracks on cello, adding rich, warm textures to the recordings. She enjoys collaborating with local musicians and worked alongside Dave Crowe in the production process, who helped shape the songs into their final form. She also sings with Splinter Sisters, led by Emma Trenorden, and performs with Anchor and Kite.
Rosie’s songwriting is inspired by personal experiences, often shaped by time spent travelling, bringing a reflective quality to her work.
Her debut EP, “Bright As Your Eyes,” offers a heartfelt introduction to her music. Red Bird will be performing these tracks live at the Top Half Folk Festival this weekend from 1 May 2026 at Ross River.
Bright As Your Eyes is out now on streaming services.
