In this programme we revisit the Pine Gap Women’s Peace Protest of 1983, embedding it in the local political landscape. Our guides are long-term local resident and disability advocate Michelle Castagne and June Tuzewski, the only Central Australian appointed to the Northern Territory’s first Women’s Advisory Council. Michelle and June’s reflections are interspersed with a collage of protester memories. All the voices on this programme were recorded at the beginning of the 21st century. The song “Come on Bob, You’ve got the job, Now what are you going to do?’ was recorded in 1983 at the peace protest by Annie Coxsedge.
