8CCC Brekky's Kate caught up with Joshua Tranter ahead of his exhibition opening Essence at The Roastery 10am on Saturday. ESSENCE invites audiences to experience the natural world beyond what is immediately visible. It explores the limits of feeling within visual components, evoking a sense of presence that cannot always be seen. From sand to sky, his aim is to inspire wonder and a deeper appreciation for the natural spiritual world we live in.All work will be available for viewing whenever The Roastery is open (Tuesday-Thursday 7am-2pm Friday 7am-8pm) and is a collaboration with Watch this Space.

Creative Producer at Watch This Space artist-run initiative, Yul Scarf dropped into the Mparntwe 8CCC studio to tell us what's planned for 2026. An exciting collaboration has also sprung up with The Roastery Cafe and Yul spoke of their call out for artists to exhibit at the Cafe - planning to have shows at the Roastery every 2 months, as well as exhibiting the Watch This Space Members Show, later in the year.

Jet Nikitina-Li, Director at Watch this Space spoke to the Brekky Show about this Friday's Lofty Awards and the opening of the member's show Forever which will be open for viewing and sales on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-2pm. The Advocate Art Award is an all-inclusive exhibition and this year had a strong line up of new, emerging and established artists, generously supported by the Central Australian Art Society Inc (CAAS) non-profit organisation run by volunteer artists. The last day of the exhibition included a walk and talk by some of the entrants. The winner of the Excellence Award, sponsored by Chapman & Bailey, is Deb Clarke for her Carina's Car. The Big Brekky Show caught up with well-known Australian writer and artist Kim Mahood, best known for Wandering with Intent, a collection of essays which redefine the Australian frontier. She was the recent artist in residence at Araluen Art Centre and her resulting exhibition Forcefield continues until 11 August.

The Big Brekky Show had a great chat with Sara Maiorino, current artist in resident at the Women's Museum of Australia and fellow artists Georgie Mattingley and Mathew Dargan at the old gaol, who have produced an exhibition together - Cellblock, on until 20 April.
