The Sandridge Band – Nannup Festival 2025

Speaking with keyboardist Ryan Karkadoo after a successful performance from Nannup Festival, The Sandridge Band are on their way to gigs in Fremantle and Darwin. Their rock ‘n’ roll, reggae sound, with a dash of roots and blues, reflect life in their community and cultural story from their elders. Their set includes new songs that build on their 2019 album, Brolga Dreaming, amplifying the language and stories of the Yanyuwa, Gurrawa, Mara, and Gurdanji clans.

Big Day Out 2025 EOI – Jessye and Gagan

The Big Brekky Show spoke with Jessye Blake & Gagan Singh from the Multicultural Community Service of Central Australia who who have launched an expressions of interest (EOI) for the Big Day Out in Harmony 2025. Cultural groups and individuals have until 19 February to get their ideas to the teams, for the 31 May event. Both Jessye and Gagan are encouraging all enquiries and will discuss any suggestions, both big and small. This is your chance to have the BDOIH reflect all facets of Mparntwe's cultural scene!

WOS 2025 cancelled – Jimmy Cocking and Rodney Angelo

Jimmy Cocking and Rodney Angelo dropped into the Big Brekky Show with some sad news - the team have made the difficult decision to cancel Wide Open Space in 2025. Only half of their budgeted grants came through and the strain on the dedicated volunteers and general financial risk is too great.'We don’t know what the future holds for WOS but if it is to continue then it will need energy and guidance from people across the Alice Spring and WOS community. We are keen to work with those who are willing and able to help transition WOS to a new structure that can leverage more sustainable funding. So, if you want to make WOS 2026 happen then get in contact.'
