Jonathan Pilbrow from the Independent and Peaceful Australia Network, chats to The Big Brekky about this Saturday 10 August's event Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki – 5th Yami Lester Memorial Address at The Roastery. The event marks 79 years this week since bombs were dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, and also remembers the nuclear weapons tests of the 1950's in Emu Field and Maralinga, South Australia, which had devastating and widespread impacts on indigenous communities of which Yami Lester was a survivor and subsequent anti-nuclear weapons campaigner.Guest speaker, Sue Haseldine, is a nuclear test survivor from Ceduna, demonstrating how far the dust cloud travelled from the nuclear tests, and an Ambassador for ICAN (winners of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize). The event is family friendly, with an Arrernte healing ceremony, music, stories, crane making, and children’s activities. .
