Flora Mpofu of the Zimbabwean Lady’s Choir spoke with Benjamin Erin on Look Out- New Music Horizon last Friday before their performance at Arts On The Lawn in the Todd Mall on Saturday 25th August.
Flora shared with us an acapella performance and we learnt that singing is integral to her community. All 10 members of the Zimbabwean Lady’s Choir work as nurses- most at Alice Springs Hospital- which makes rehearsing around shift work a little tricky. Flora shared with us one of their recordings which they use to practice in between rehearsals.
8CCC was blown away by The Zimbabwean Lady’s Choir when we first saw them perform at The Big Day Out in Harmony – and their performance at Arts On The Lawn was equally powerful and uplifting- a highlight of the day.
