Alecia Buchanan has been hanging around 8CCC since 2007 following a dream of “just being on the radio” since those early childhood days of bopping along in the ’70s to AM radio one hit wonders. And now she’s made it! Once the presenter for 8CCC’s Local Connections, then the popular Sheila Show bringing the tunes of local artists to the ears of the community, now in her mature glory she has a lot to say and is not afraid to say it! Karen Alecia brings her fun, sass, life experience and a smidgen of integrity to the Karen experience with her friend and co-host, Karen Eleanor.

Eleanor Hogan

Eleanor Hogan was introduced to the wonders of community radio during COVID as a way of holding non-IRL events, and has been a huge fan of its capacity to reach diverse audiences ever since. An overeducated genX policy wonk and writer who keeps washing up on the desert shores of Central Australia, she misses the days when people understood irony. Formerly the co-host of the Cook & Book show and host of Centralian Book Chat, she is only too happy to co-host a show with Karen Alecia lampooning mid-women’s mid-life crises.

This is the show that seeks to reclaim the Karen from the cesspit where popular culture has cast her. In each episode, we share our combined wisdom about the conundrums of modern life in response to a ‘Carrie Bradshaw’ question, plus an odd spot we’ve stumbled across and recommendations about whatever high and low-brow shit has taken our fancy.
