Position Description
Role
This is a volunteer position responsible for ensuring 8CCC’s programming goal of broadcasting 33% local music content through 8CCC channels, in line with 8CCC’s strategic plan. You will engage local musicians and volunteers across the Central Australian and Barkly Tablelands regions in diverse, relevant local music content production and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Improve accessibility of diverse sectors of our community in local music content production
- Engage local musicians in 8CCC broadcasts, gigs and events, interviews, album launches and station feature albums
- Connect local musicians and 8CCC broadcasters for content production opportunities
- Oversee expansion of the 8CCC music library with local content; work with 8CCC Music Librarians
- Review newly ingested local music for inclusion to rotation category lists in playout software, and ensure correct database tagging. Regularly curate music for Local Connections playout
- Prepare, review, and edit content for the 8CCC website and social media platforms
- Encourage all presenters to log show music playout for APRA AMCOS reporting (by 2022), and ensure data is provided to AMRAP
- Communicate APRA AMCOS reporting goal to local musicians and 8CCC volunteers; raise awareness of the benefits
- Curate and maintain an 8CCC FFS database for local musicians
- Link artists to Red Hot Arts and Music NT for gigs and development opportunities
- Develop 8CCC’s online Local Music Directory
- Liaise regularly with Tennant Creek Station Manager and volunteers
- Attend local music events regularly
- Understand 8CCC’s listener demographic
What To Expect
- Time commitment: 4hrs per week, with at least 1hour on site at 8CCC’s studios
- Ability to work from home and 8CCC studios
- This role is the 8CCC contact point for local musicians; you will receive enquiries, and stay engaged with the local music scene, local musicians, and industry stakeholders
- Receive support and instruction from the 8CCC Station Manager, and support from 8CCC Music Librarians
- Communicate regularly and effectively with the 8CCC station manager, and wider 8CCC team (staff and volunteers) to stay informed about 8CCC events, activities and productions, and inform the team of relevant projects/activities
- Attend bi-monthly meetings with the content team, and prepare board reports
- Abide by 8CCC policy and procedure.
