We have the Chair of Friends of Araluen Kalika live in the studio. Kalika is highlighting the Festival of the Piano that is happening on the 25th of October at 7pm. The performance will have local and national artist’s showcasing the Grand Piano. Guests will be able to appreciate music of Classical Gospel, New Orleans Jazz and Cabaret in the Malene Dietrich style.

Latest single from Larrakia based MC SizzMacc, MARS was produced, written, mastered and performed by the artist himself. Full of layered word play and raw emotion, this track is backed by a punchy beat. SizzMacc mentioned that he “had a lot of fun making this film clip on the beach once the tide was out with a majority of footage captured and edited by fellow MC Pxpkxrn”.

Cricket is alive and well in Alice Springs. We had NT Cricket Coordinator Kesh Keerthi. Kesh was here to tell us about the Girls Smash program from 8-16 years old. The program will be happening alongside the ASCA Women’s cricket matches, giving our young players the perfect chance to play, learn and be inspired by local role models on the same evening. For the first time in Alice Springs, we’re running a social cricket competition just for girls – full of colour, fun and great vibes! This new 6-a-side format is all about friends, laughter and teamwork — where every boundary, catch and team celebration is appreciated in full colour

Sandy Louise’s latest single is filled with emotion, “Tears in the Driveway”. This is a co-write with acclaimed producer and songwriter, Bill Chambers. The inspiration came from Sandy’s own experience of travelling interstate to reunite with her sister in Murray Bridge, South Australia, where her mother and younger sister had since also moved. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and this is evident in this new single.

On Arvos with Andy, we have Josefina and Hyde from MHACA. They are here to highlight many activities in the Alice Plaza on Friday 17 October at 10am-1pm. The event will feature as part of Mental Health Week many different activities as part of community wellbeing. With speakers, information stalls from local services, music by George Ivans and Klint Buzzaacott, a dance, fitness workshop, kids’ activities, puppy cuddles, free massages by Plaza Wellbeing Centre and more! This community event is free supported by funding from the Northern Territory PHN through the Australian Government's PHN Program.

Darwin based artist Erin Conaghty has produced something special as Erin & The Conartists. Their latest single “Indecisive” is based on incomplete information from lovers. This song has strong, propulsive rhythms, anchored by amplified electric guitars, drums and a base guitar, with a strong sense of energy, expressed through passionate vocals

On the Arvos with Andy we have alt-county/folk /songwriter Alice Cotton. Alice is about to go on tour to southeastern WA tour with the Sandhills Band. The Sandhills have just launched Fire on the Mountain on September 28. The performances at the inaugural New Farm New Country cosmic country festival, as well as Margaret River and Denmark WA. A folky love song layered with picked guitars and a tremolo ukulele, sounding a little bit like The Shins, Fire on the Mountain celebrates those moments after a lovers' quarrel, as anger fades and love brings reconciliation. It's about that sheepish look on your face, right before you apologise. Recorded and produced by Chris Hann, the single confirms the acoustic, folky direction of The Sandhills' last EP, Prairies, and is paired with hand-made merch available for purchase on Bandcamp.  

On Arvos with Andy we have well known Australian country artist, Roo Arcus. He has just released his fifth studio album, The Man I Am. This upbeat Americana song The Apple Doesn't Fall Far is full of catchy hooks. Roo Arcus is as real as they come. He sings about the way he lives, honest, true and country. He’s a cowboy, a storyteller, a songwriter and one heck of a recording artist. This Australian cattleman, who to this day works the family farm, oozes authenticity and is true to his country roots.

Hunter Valley based alt country artist, Trinity Woodhouse. Tiffany returns with a brilliant new single, “Pills. This song draws from her personal mental health journey, “Pills” sheds light on the struggles of seeking treatment and issues with doing so. Trinity points out that “Mental Health isn’t something that’s discussed anywhere near enough, and if one person can listen to my song, relate, and know that someone else is going through that experience with them, then I’ve done my job”.

Emerging Folk singer/songwriter artist Jami Ashenden. Jami’s music this afternoon was characterized by acoustic guitar and her lyrics reflect her personal life experiences. Jami will be opening for Liz Stringer at Folk Club this weekend. Liz Stringer is one of Australia’s most admired and versatile songwriters and instrumentalists. Liz Stringer is running two workshops in Alice with MusicNT on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th of October.

Darwin based artist Charlie Prowling and the Black Pepper Band. Originally said in jest, the members decided to shamelessly steal it so now they are known and promoted as Charlie & The Black Pepper Band. Their current line-up includes Charlie’s partner in crime Melanie Macauley, on backup vocals and the young dynamic guitarist James (Gravy) Brown. Charlie indicates his early influences have instilled in him a love of musical narration. Charlie reflects on how he has “always tried to emulate the style of storytelling within my music”. They have just released their 4th album Movin’ On.

On Arvos with Andy we had Billy Hayze from “Billy & The Bandits” back again with their brand-new hit single Hard Workin’Man.  This single portrays a blue-collar man struggling to get ahead despite his labor and efforts.  If you like narrative driven song, then they have a song for you!
