Kemy Ogendi’s Lullaby for Grown Ups captures the paradox of growth with grace, suggesting that the act of growing older can encompass solace in simplicity, in the things that make us human, and in the quiet moments where we can just be.
Produced in Mparntwe by Dave Crowe, each track feels like a whispered conversation with the listener, as if Ogendi herself is unraveling the truth that comes with the quiet moments of reflection. Dave Crowe also accompanies with guitar on some tracks, and in Bring it to Me, Katie Harder features as guest vocalist.
Kemy takes her inspiration for the EP from the idea that, “Grown ups need lullabies too!” Weaving elements of folk, soul, and ambient sounds she has created a delicate soundscape of piano, acoustic guitar and a dynamic voice that quietly changes something within you. And, like all the best lullabies, it lingers long after the last note fades—an invitation to rest, reflect, and embrace the quiet power of our own hearts.
