Bunna Lawrie & Jason Scott Lee join 8CCC's Shauna Upton ahead of their performance at Tennant Creek's Territory Day celebrations.

The Brekky Show team had the great pleasure of chatting with Tennant Creek Speedway steward, Di Sawyer about the annual Memorial Night on the weekend, how people can get involved and all things speedway.

Shauna had a great chat with Natasha Olissoff and Darren Forbes from the Tennant Creek Warumungu Wheelers Bike Group. Later in the segment, the Barkly Women's and Youth AFL competition wrap this week came care of AFL Game and Community Development manager Wayne Green.

The Big Brekky Show crossed live to our 8CCC Tennant Creek studio to chat with RSL Tennant Creek President Sergeant Dillon to discover what is happening on this year's commemoration of Anzac Day.

Warumungu Elder Norman Frank and Dr Simon Quilty, the brains, determination and spark behind Wilya Ajjul Janta - Standing Strong Together- visited the studio while in town to speak at the Aboringinal Housing and Homelands Conference. This is an inspiring developing happening up in Tennant Creek to provide culturally and climate appropriate housing for the community.

The Big Brekky Crew spoke with Mike Nash, an electrician and long-term resident of Tennant Creek, who is advocating for the reinstatement of the weather radar since it was decommissioned in 2015. The new Doppler radar was slated to be installed and operational by late 2022 but has been repeatedly pushed back. One Tank Hill aka Bill Allen Lookout is now the proposed site, with the BOM in the process of getting the relevant approvals to build the radar there.

Barkly Regional Arts and 8CCC Community Radio have been working together to recruit a full time Media & Events worker employed across two roles. We are now pleased to welcome Shauna Upton as 8CCC's Barkly Radio Coordinator!

On the Big Brekky Show we have Dr Simon Quilty who has been a medical doctor in the NT for 20 years. Simon is part of a housing collaboration between Traditional Owners, medical professionals, architects, and local tradespeople, Wilya Janta – Standing Strong. They're hoping to have two houses built by the end of 2024.
