On Arvos with Andy, we welcomed Dan the Underdog, widely known as the king of collaboration in Mparntwe (Alice Springs). Dan has played a vital role in supporting the Alice Kings, helping guide and encourage the group as they continue to grow as emerging artists. Although the Alice Kings were unable to join the program because they were busy with their high school studies, Dan came on the show to share the exciting news of their recent achievements and reflect on their musical journey.

One of the band’s biggest milestones is being invited to perform at this year’s Bush Bands Bash, a significant event that showcases some of the best emerging First Nations musicians from across Central Australia. Performing at the Bush Bands Bash offers artists a major platform to reach new audiences while providing access to professional industry mentorship, networking opportunities, and skills development. The event also helps create long-term career pathways by connecting musicians with industry professionals and opening doors to future performances, recordings, and collaborations. Dan spoke proudly about the Alice Kings’ dedication and the opportunities ahead, highlighting the importance of community support in helping young musicians achieve their goals.
