Happy Harmony Day! The theme this year is ‘everybody belongs’, an ideal theme for community radio. It is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world.
We take this opportunity to welcome the Multicultural Community Services of Central Australia (MCSCA) as a new sponsor, and also as a project partner.
8CCC will be working with MCSCA on the Big Day Out in Harmony, Alice Springs’ own Harmony Day event which will take place on Saturday 20th April. The event is sponsored by the NT Government and Alice Springs Town Council.

Also, we are working together on a project to record people’s stories of migrating to Alice Springs and Tennant Creek. We are recording stories from people who have migrated from overseas, from other states and – recognising that Central Australia is as big as Europe, with as many different languages and cultures within it – people who have migrated to Alice Springs and Tennant Creek from remote parts of the Central Desert region. These stories will be made into program segments for broadcast on 8CCC 102.1FM.
This radio project which we have called Many Voices, One Place is being supported by the Community Broadcasting Foundation and the NT Government.
