Hi, the inspiration for this week’s theme was Jim Cobb who visited Central Australia for a painting retreat and to stay with my partner and I for a few days. He immersed himself in Indian Classical music while he was here, and said, in an amazed tone, “I don’t know why, but I really understand this music. It just makes sense.”
It was great to have a chat with Doug Suter from Katelnd Griffin’s band – he welcomed suggestions for a name other than their interim band name so go along the the Desert Music Club on monday with some ideas to match to their sound.
So now for the music:
U SRINIVAS AND MICHAEL BROOK – Run (from a wonderful album called Dream)
SHOBHA GURTU – Tarsat Jiha Hamar
RAVI SHANKAR WITH ZUBIN MEHTA AND THE LONDON PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA – Mian Ki Malhar (featuring 21 different Ragas)
SHOBHA GURTU – Paar Karo Kartar
DR L SUBRAMANIAM AND AMBI SUBRAMANIAM – Kriti: Ennai Katharulvai in Adi Taal (from Violin Virtuoso)
SUBHANKAR BANNERJEE AND PATRI SATISH KUMAR – Adi Tala duet (fantastic interplay between vocalist and tabla)
DEEPAK RAM – Ganesha
