Several candidates standing for the Northern Territory seat of Lingiari have discussed how they believe the Territory’s domestic and family violence crisis should be tackled, in a special live-to-air panel on 8CCC Radio today.
The panel discussion, run by the team at Central Australian Women’s Legal Service – who also host the weekly 8CCC radio show and podcast Sisters in Law – was held live on 8CCC this morning.
Despite several candidates both coming in, or phoning in to the Mbantua-Alice Springs radio studio for the debate, incumbent Lingiari MP, Labor’s Marion Scrymgour and Australian Citizens Party candidate Peter Flynn, failed to respond to 8CCC’s requests to attend.
Sisters in Law’s host Sarah Edwards put several key questions to the candidates who did participate: the Country Liberal Party’s Lisa Siebert; The Greens’ Blair McFarland; the Indigenous-Aboriginal Party of Australia’s Chris Tomlins; and One Nation’s Sakellarios Bairamis.
