Veronica Larson, Executive Officer of Neighbourhood Watch NT, chats to The Big Brekky about the NT-wide comprehensive holiday safety campaign it launched in December, in collaboration with Territory Community Safety Coordination Centre (TCSCC).
The initiative aims to equip residents with preventative measures against opportunistic crimes. From now until March, Neighbourhood Watch NT is broadcasting community safety advertisements across the NT on Imparja, Channel 7, Central and Channel 7 Darwin, as well as social media. The organisation hopes to facilitate neighbourly connection and initiation of community safety groups.
FYI the TCSCC commenced in May 2023, and is a ‘multi-agency capability’ led by NT Police that works at a grass roots level to identify issues and provide ‘coordinated wraparound services’ for individuals and families that need support. TCSCC liaises with officers from Health, Education, Territory Families, Housing and Communities, Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Corporate and Digital Development, and Industry, Tourism and Trade, enabling centralised reporting up, down and across agencies.
