Simon Duke, the 2023 West Macs Monster winner, shares his race experience with The Big Brekky as we prepare for 2024’s event on the 17th of May. The formidable endurance race sees ultra runners attempt the entire Larapinta Trial, over 231 kms of single track rugged terrain in the West MacDonnell (Tjoritja) National Park of arid zone Central Australia.
Simon, an Alice Springs local, last year set an astonishing new end to end record of 39 hours, 56 minutes and 26 seconds. Also in 2023, a new female record was set by Perth runner, Meghann Coffey, finishing in 47 hours, 11 minutes and 38 seconds.
