The guest on The Fine Line on Tuesday 4 March was Susie Thompson, local textile and graphic designer and a woman with a great love of life living here in Central Australia.
Susie tells us how she grew up with a paintbrush in her hand and this soon led her to her first ‘love affair’- that of – for the love of colour and design. Susie took her passion further, first studying textile design the old fashion way, learning the intricate and detailed way, beginning with a drawing or watercolor sketch of the finished design.
This in turn led to a stint as a graphic designer, where Susie used her artistic flair to give order to the information, form to the ideas, and expression to the designs she was charged with creating. All the while too, Susie’s life was interspersed with her ever present paintbrush, fulfilling Susie’s ongoing passion for colour, art and design in her life.
Susie continues to find inspiration for her art here in the landscape and colours of Central Australia and is considering taking up an old passion again, that of ceramics. Of course this will all depend on finding the time in her busy schedule between raising a teenage daughter who is an avid speedway racer, her work, and her passionate involvement in the local community.
