Wearable Art Awards 2013

8CCC friend and sponsor, Central Craft, is pleased to announce that the Wearable Art Awards will return in 2013 under their management, on Saturday 26th October at 7.30pm in the Araluen Theatre.

With their 40-year history as one of the Northern Territory’s pioneering craft and design organisations, Central Craft is perfectly placed to adopt this well-loved regional arts event.  For this year’s Wearable Art Awards, entrants will have the opportunity to submit works into the following categories:  Natural Fibre, Recycled and/or Found Objects and Open Fantasia.  Prizes will also be awarded for a Standout Youth Entry, Standout Performance and the traditional Central Craft Acquisition Award. Acquired works will be displayed in the Brian Tucker Gallery of Wearable Art in the Araluen Arts Centre foyer.

Central Craft is calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from local wearable art creators – individuals or groups. These can be made via email [email protected], phone 8952 4417 or in person at Central Craft (Araluen Cultural Precinct, 61 Larapinta Drive, Alice Springs).  Expressions of interest should include a contact name, telephone number and/or email address. All individual and group EOI’s will automatically receive an entry form when released in early July.

8CCC is proud to support Central Craft and the Wearable Arts Awards, and we encourage you to consider putting your creative juices to work and have a go on your own or with some friends, and because without an audience there is no event, put the 26th October in your diary for a night to remember!
