On Tuesday 18 February, The Fine Line welcomed Lisa Brigham, a multifaceted Central Craft member who hails from the USA and has enlivened Central Craft’s retail outlet with her gloriously coloured and crafted glass works. Lisa uses both fused and slump glass methods to create her beautiful, yet practical glass works.
Lisa has also taught interested locals how to make gorgeous glass beads at Central Craft and described the fascinating process and inspiration that forms this process. Not content to be the teacher, Lisa has broadened her skills by participating in a pewter casting workshop at Central Craft where she was fascinated with the simple process of carving cuttle fish bone to make a mould and then by pouring molten pewter into the mould to create perfect pewter pieces.
Why not pop on down to Central Craft located at the Araluen Cultural Precinct on Larapinta Drive, where you will be able to buy Lisa’s beautiful glass creations as well as her simple, yet interesting jewellery designs made using gemstones like garnets, fossicked here in Central Australia and set in sterling silver .
Jen Standish-White talks with Lisa Brigham, local glass artist and creative jeweller.
