Yesterday afternoon Barkly residents were surprised to find their walls and windows shaking, as Tennant Creek experienced a 3.6 magnitude earthquake.
There has been quite a few small earthquakes recently in the Barkly, and of course back in 1988 Tennant Creek suffered significant damage due to a series of larger earthquakes. It’s got us here at 8CCC wondering why Tennant Creek, in the middle of our country, experiences so much earthquake activity. Did you know the town is situated in the middle of a tectonic plate?
