Hey music lovers!
Tune in to 8CCC 102.1 FM this Friday night from 9pm to 10pm to hear a one hour radio project dedicated to contemporary/classical music composers living in the NT. It’s part of a National radio series that will broadcast around the country.
Artists included in the NT program are Mathew Wood, Artistic Director and chief Conductor from the Darwin Symphony Orchestra, electronic musician and producer Kris Keogh from Nhulunbuy in Arnhem Land, eccentric musician Jeffrey McLaughlin living in Tennant Creek, synthesiser virtuoso Ben Ward living in Alice Springs and vocalist and electronic music producer Beatrice Lewis who goes between Melbourne and Alice Springs.
ARTIST BIOSKris Keogh
Kris Keogh is an Australian musician, producer, artist and software designer, currently based in
Nhulunbuy, Arnhem Land, Australia.
Unable to focus on one creative project at a time, Kris can be found doing anything from DJing
filthy bass music, drawing thousands of monsters, making delicate processed harp music, nerding
out writing Reaktor patches or playing lo-fi lovesongs with his band Red Plum & Snow, often all in a
single day.

Jeffrey Mclaughlin (Dr. Flouride)
Based in Tennant Creek, Jeff is one of the true music mavericks of the Northern Territory; wild,
hardworking, woolly and willing to go anywhere at the drop of a hat. With a mobile studio in tow,
he’s spent countless hours on the road in his hip-trippy van (aptly named the ‘Love Bus’), driving to
destinations 99% of the Australian music industry likely has never heard of, all in the name of
making music happen.
Jeff spent 6 years (between 2006 -2012) working with the team who set up and developed the
Winanjjikari Music Centre in Tennant Creek – hands down one of the ‘deadliest’ Indigenous music
forces in the Northern Territory. He has since moved on from that project and has been focused
heavily on producing his own art. In 2012 he released a solo album playing all the instruments,
recording, mixing and mastering it all himself. He is currently in the process of building a new
studio out of a caravan in his backyard.
His music could best be described as a blend of semi arid region reggae, dub squat and spinifex
grass blues.

Ben Ward
Originally from Melbourne Ben Ward has called Alice Springs his home for the last 20 years. He is
a solo electronic music composer, a painter, a video artist and a Charles Darwin University media
lecturer. When he performs live he does so under the name R1v1era.
Over the last few years Ben has clocked up an impressive number of hours experimenting with
electronic music in a modest tin shed in his backyard.
Unfortunately for the general public, Ben rarely hits the record button. His pursuit of music is mostly
about the experiencing the blissful sensation of getting lost in the sounds.
Luckily for us however, with a bit of coaxing we convinced him to come into the 8CCC studios to let
us press record and capture some of his process.
Beatrice Lewis
Beatrice is a solo composer and musician who mixes trip-hop beats, synths, strings and vocals to
create beautiful, dreamy soundscapes. She currently spends half her time in Melbourne and the
other half working on music projects in Alice Springs and remote indigenous communities around
the Central Desert region.
She’s currently putting the finishing touches on a new album that looks like it will be ready this
spring.
