8CCC was delighted to support Big Day Out in Harmony by broadcasting live from the event. As well as broadcasting all the entertainment from the stage, our OB presenters and roving reporters Edan Baxter, Mike Wolke (Route 66), Jen Standish-White (The Fine Line), Christa Bartjen-Westermann (Moin Moin) and Joy Taylor (Many Voices One Place) chatted with members of different cultural groups, performers, community leaders, event organisers and stall holders.
We were delighted to broadcast a performance by Arrente elders who broke away from the traditional style of welcome to country to sing. Also to celebrate the formation of a new community group who wowed the audience with their dance and vocals. What a treat!
Jen Standish-White was busy interviewing people about their national costumes for The Fine Line, 8CCC’s local craft program, and we also recorded some more stories for the popular series Many Voices One Place. Over the next few weeks these will be appearing in our broadcast schedule so stay tuned to 8CCC!
