The Fine Line was delighted to welcome Central Craft Committee member, local ceramist and sculptor Faye Alexander to the program on Tuesday 25 February 2014.
Faye has been a cornerstone of Central Craft over many years and brings her love of the organsiation and all things art and craft in central Australia in her fascinating account of her memories and experiences of the characters and craft that are the life blood of this community organisation.
Faye began her creative journey as a potter and this led to a her spreading her wings and experimenting as a sculptor as a way to fulfil her creative inspirations. Faye worked with recycled metal wire to create breathtaking and ethereal sculptures whose fragile beauty are underpinned by the tensile strength of the wire wands.
We also hear of her heart warming friendship with local potter Patsy Morton – an inspiring story of the love of clay and the warmth of friendship that crosses cultures and country.
Jen Standish-White talks with Faye Alexander, local ceramist and sculptor.
