On the 11 February The Fine Line welcomed Julie Millerick, a multitalented Central Craft member who colours our world with vibrantly painted silk scarves, funky printed clothing and quirky beanies to name just a few of Julie’s inspiring creations as guest on the show.
Julie is also one of the designers of the ‘Sustainable Couture’ group, whose love for working with denim has reinvented the old denim jean into a kaleidoscope of wacky and wonderful denim creations.
Julie has also been caught up in ‘beanie fever’ and has feverishly been crocheting and creating other beanie’ creations for this year’s Alice Springs Beanie Festival, despite having developed ‘ crochet elbow’ a variation of ‘tennis elbow’.
If you would like to experience Julie’s wonderfully coloured and crazy creations, head on down to the local Todd Mall Markets in Alice Springs held every alternate Sunday from 9.00am to 1.00pm.
Jen Standish-White talks with Julie Millerick, local textile, printer and fibre artist.
Broadcast: Tuesday 11 February 2014 at 12 noon on 8CCC Community Radio 102.1FM
