Today we will meet Nandadevi, Mahadevananda and Kalikamurti – members of the Alice Springs community who are connected through their involvement in Satyananda, one of the many traditions of yoga.
This is the first of a 2-part program which I started to make during Navaratri. This is a nine day period of spiritual practice for personal and planetary transformation, and takes place throughout the world on specific dates linked to the lunar calendar in October.
A group of people met at dawn in a hall called Satyam Kutir in the light industrial estate between the old Racecourse and the railway to chant together in the ancient language of Sanskrit, joined by the morning chorus of piping shrikes and crows.
During those days of reflection it seemed timely to reflect on the history of Satyananda in Central Australia, and draw on the creative energy that we had built up to do it!
