Dave Richards spent his career as a journalist with ABC radio and The Centralian Advocate. He was also involved with 8CCC during the 1990s (Dave is kneeling on the left in the front row of this photo from 1998).
Frustrated with conventional media, he went on to found the popular local website, AliceOnline. In this interview, Dave tells fellow journalist Helen Womack about the freedom he found for himself and the freedom he can offer his readers by publishing on the internet. He is critical of journalism but argues that the profession is still needed to ensure we hear a healthy range of opinions.
