This year’s Big Day Out in Harmony headliner L-FRESH the LION caught up with Kate Lyons-Dawson on the Big Brekky Show. Hailing from South West Sydney to Punjabi immigrant parents, his music blends personal narratives with the Sikh values his parents taught him of equality and purpose, carving out a space for diasporic identity within the global hip-hop movement. Since he was at our Wide Open Space festival in 2015, L has been chosen to represent the Australian Hip Hop scene at 2023 SummerStage Festival in Central Park, New York, played with Elton John and generally just forged his own style in his unique voice.
