Robyn Grey-Gardner is a water consultant specialising in water systems for remote communities, and is based in Alice Springs.
In this Centralian Yarn, Robyn has a different water-based yarn to tell. Back in 1984, Robyn was a member of the historic coxed fours crew which won Australia its first Olympic women’s rowing medal. Robyn talks about her passion for the rowing, her experience of being an Australian Olympian before the days of the National Institute of Sport. She describes how she felt as a teenager being at the Los Angeles Games, which was so affected by national boycotts and terrorist threats.
We also get the answer to why Robyn now has a 5 metre long boat hanging in her breezeway in a house in the middle of arid Australia.
