Feature album – Maria Somerville – Luster

This Irish indie artist has just released her first album on the 4AD label. Maria Somerville's Luster weaves aural magic across the 12 tracks, sometimes reminiscent of Twin Peaks, other times stretching the pop boundaries. Artwork by Nicola Tirabasso and Alison Fielding. Recorded in Conamara and Dublin between 2021 and 2023. Released April 25, 2025She has presented regular shows on NTS Radio and especially the Early Bird Show where she navigates through ambient, folk and alternative music, spoken word and field recordings.8CCC offers listeners Luster as our feature album, while Maria tours through Europe and onwards to the US accompanied by a live band.

Rob Snarski – Live at the Roastery

The Big Brekky spent some time with Rob Snarski during his first stay in Mparntwe Alice Springs, here to work with Chapman and Bailey and tonight perform at the Roastery!Rob formed SnarskiCircusLindyBand with Lindy Morrison [Go-Betweens], ‘Evil’ Graham Lee [Triffids], long time collaborator Shane O’Mara [Silversound] and part-timer Dan Kelly [nephew of Paul] to record and tour after initial shows with Lindy. Their debut mini-album Someone Said That Someone Said was released in May 2023. The follow up mini-album I Know I Know was released in May 2024. October 2024 saw the release of Waiting For The Bell, an album recorded with his brother Mark under the moniker SNARSKI vs SNARSKI. Rob has toured the globe with The Blackeyed Susans and as a guest vocalist with The Triffids and The Go-Betweens, and has graced the same stage as Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen and Nico amongst others not quite as popular.

Jez is a musician and composer with over 25 years' experience in the music industry. His work as a sound engineer now comes under the banner of Left of Elephant Sound - for music production, mixing and mastering, location and film sound, ADR and voice over - to name a few.

WOS 2025 cancelled – Jimmy Cocking and Rodney Angelo

Jimmy Cocking and Rodney Angelo dropped into the Big Brekky Show with some sad news - the team have made the difficult decision to cancel Wide Open Space in 2025. Only half of their budgeted grants came through and the strain on the dedicated volunteers and general financial risk is too great.'We don’t know what the future holds for WOS but if it is to continue then it will need energy and guidance from people across the Alice Spring and WOS community. We are keen to work with those who are willing and able to help transition WOS to a new structure that can leverage more sustainable funding.
